Project Overview

As the largest high school on the Eyre Peninsula, Port Lincoln High School prides itself on offering a vast assortment of subjects catering for a variety of post-schooling alternatives, from university and other forms of tertiary education to trade and employment pathways. Secon Consulting Engineers collaborated closely with Russell and Yelland Architects on this comprehensive project, addressing various educational and facility needs. Here’s a breakdown of the key components of the recent redevelopment for the Secondary School:

  • a new year 7 building with general learning areas, withdrawal spaces, breakout spaces and amenities.
  • a new specialist building with art, language, cultural facilities and teacher preparation area, providing students with a well-rounded education including opportunities for artistic and cultural pursuits.
  • Spaces and resources to support Indigenous education and cultural initiatives.
  • dedicated special education annexe including classroom and withdrawal spaces.
  • specialist facilities designed to cater for specific educational needs including the refurbishment of technical studies facility and a new home economics and canteen building
  • outdoor learning areas providing students with spaces to socialise, study and interact with their peers.

Secon Consulting Engineers were involved in providing a wide range of engineering services for the project. Mechanical and Electrical Services were crucial for maintaining a comfortable and functional environment, while Security and Communications Systems help ensure the safety and connectivity of the school. Hydraulic and Fire Protection Services were vital for ensuring water supply and safety measures.

The collaborative effort of the entire Project Team has resulted in the creation of a more comprehensive and well-equipped educational facility for the Eyre Peninsula, offering students a range of options for their post-schooling pathways.  It is a great example of how teamwork can enhance educational infrastructure and opportunities.
