Project

Fluid Solar House

Client: Fluid Solar Thermal
Architect: Daring Design
Location: Haydown Road, Elizabeth Vale
Completion: 2017
Project Value: $8m

Project Overview

We were lucky enough to be involved with this exciting new solar thermal building (Fluid Solar House) which is a 2500m² commercial office building which demonstrates Fluid Solar’s renewable heating and cooling technology.

It is situated opposite the Lyell McEwin Hospital in Elizabeth Vale.

Some of the buildings features include:

  • High performance building envelope – optimisation of seasonal thermal losses and gains through external building elements
  • Fluid Solar Thermal Panel Technology for collection of high volumes of hot water
  • Solar powered HVAC, including:
  • Solar Thermal Hydronic Heating
  • Highly efficient Solar powered Hydronic Cooling
  • Solar powered natural ventilation using underfloor air distribution (UFAD) with fresh, non-recirculated (single pass) air
  • Thermal energy storage in underground tanks
  • Extensive natural daylighting to floor space – carefully designed to limit solar radiation gains and maximise light infiltration
  • Solar powered smart LED lighting in all areas, for minimum internal heat loads and maximum visual comfort for all occupants during periods of reduced daylight
