Project Overview

Secon consulting engineers has worked closely with the Port Pirie Regional Council and Katanoo to create this multi purpose sporting facility at the memorial oval sports precinct in Port Pirie.

The project provides significantly upgraded facilities which replaced the existing aged infrastructure, it incorporates multiple sports and will help to rejuvenate the CBD by bringing more sports to the centre of town.

The Aquatic Centre is a modern facility for the community which incorporates 3 Squash Courts, Indoor learn to swim and toddler swimming Pools, Gymnasium, squash, Café and program rooms, as well as modern offices and amenity areas.

The Sports Precinct with modern facilities overlooks two ovals and the whole site.  The sports played on the ovals include AFL, Cricket, Baseball and Soccer. The main Oval is provided with LED sports lighting illuminated to semi-professional levels.

The new grandstand incorporates an amenities area and function room.

A site wide PA system allows event organisers to broadcast messages throughout the facility keeping both players and spectators up to date with event happenings.

Secon is very proud to have designed the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fire and hydraulic services, with a key focus on innovation and reducing running costs to the Community Clubs and council.

Both facilities are a hub for the community and attract Regional Sporting events and possibly pre-session AFL and A-League matches.
